Playing Catch-up

I haven’t posted anything of substance since the beginning of December!  Those holidays sure have a way of keeping you busy, not to mention all the other stuff that’s been going on with us lately.

The most exciting news we have to share is that we are expecting!  We found out just before Christmas, and the baby is due August 12th.  Which brings me to another bit of news.  Thomas is currently deployed in Afghanistan.  He left January 13th and will be gone for approximately seven months so if you do that bit of math, he should be home right around the baby’s due date.  Anyone want to guess who’ll get here first? :)   Since Thomas is going to be gone for almost the whole pregnancy I moved to Arkansas to stay with my parents.

So there is the short version of what we’ve been up to lately.  It’s been pretty crazy, but we are so excited and looking forward to August like it’s Christmas!

We Have the Internet!

Now I feel settled in :)

Here are some overdue pictures of my trip from Arkansas to California!

We were super lucky and only went through rain once.  Here is some rain that was off in the distance.  It looks like the cloud is falling I think.

Mesa

A mesa in New Mexico (I think.  Everywhere started to look the same after awhile)

We made a quick stop at the Petrified Forrest/ Painted Desert.  It was really neat!

Welcome to Cali

Welcome to California!  We had to stop at the agriculture check point to confirm that we were not bringing any produce with us

Our Building

Our apartment building!

Me

Me of course :)

Since these pictures were taken last week, I’ve been cleaning and unpacking and Thomas has been working and nothing really interesting has happened.  Whenever I finish putting everything away, I’ll get some pictures of the inside of the apartment and maybe even some of Thomas! :D

Regression : /

I’m supposed to be packing, but instead I actually unpacked a box to get my camera cord out.  I’m so bad!  Enjoy some pictures of my time in Arkansas :D

Erin’s drawing won a blue ribbon at the fair!

This pig was a prize for winning the ring toss game at the fair.  I wish I could have won him, but if our new apartment doesn’t allow dogs, I don’t think they would go for a pig.

My birthday cake!! :D It was delicious and beautiful!

Packing Up

Well, only a day until I start driving to California with my dad!  I’m starting to collect all my stuff and pack up, but somehow I seem to have more stuff than when I got here.  Hopefully it’ll fit alright in the back of my truck.

I should be able to get some more pictures of the new apartment once we get  there.  Thomas sent me some, but when I transferred them from my phone to my computer they were saved in some weird file type that WordPress doesn’t support :-P    I also have some pictures from my birthday, but my camera cord is packed up already.  So you’re all out of luck if you wanted to see any pictures.

Hurry Up and Wait…

I’m going crazy!  We’re so close to the end of our time apart (which has been eight months and about a week at this point!), but it can’t get here fast enough.  There isn’t even much for me to do to get ready for the move, I just have to wait and that makes it even harder!!

In other news, Thomas arrived safely in Camp Pendleton this past week and is staying in the barracks until we get a house.  He has a nice long weekend with Monday and Tuesday off which really helps him to have time to get housing and move reimbursement and finding a car etc. taken care of.  Unlike me, who has almost  nothing to do, Thomas will be quite busy for the next few days :)

Not much going on on my end of things, and Thomas didn’t feel like posting when I asked him so that’s all for now.  Have a marvelous Monday and a great week!

Can You Believe Summer is Almost Over?

This summer has gone by so fast, I can’t believe it’s August already!  Here is a look what we have done this summer so far :)

Thomas graduated from Basic Training in March (which is before summer started, actually, but whatever)

My Grandparents came down from Michigan to visit while Thomas was at MOS school

I drove up Scott Mountain and I was very scared, but the view was great!

The First Blog Post

Well, I’m just getting this blog set up.  I’ll probably be doing most of the updates, but Thomas will be able to as well so you may hear from him periodically.  I’ll do my best to keep everybody up to date with what we are doing, but no promises as to how often I’ll post.  Things have been pretty crazy with moving lately, but hopefully things will settle down once we’re in California.

In case anyone hasn’t heard, Thomas finished his field artillery class and got a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal.  On Monday he started his HIMARS class and he has his first test today.  He graduates from HIMARS on August 18th.  He is definitely ready to get out of Lawton!
